John B. Barry, JD, CPA/ABV, CVA

John began his professional career with Arthur Andersen and Price Waterhouse before forming John B. Barry, LLC (the”Firm”) in 1990. As the founder and principal, he is responsible for leading and guiding the team in accomplishing the Firm’s mission. He oversees and manages taxes, outsourcing engagements, legal engagements, audits, and the overall management of the Firm.

John possesses an in-depth knowledge of multi-state tax issues, taxing authority audits and examinations, and complex tax matters. As a lawyer in Maryland, John provides legal advice to clients in business, estate, and tax matters. Employing his diversified experience, he blends tax, legal, and business acumen to assist clients.

A Certified Valuation Analyst designation enhances John’s ability to serve his clients. Additionally, John is credentialed with an additional CPA designation of Accredited in Business Valuation

John obtained his law degree from Marquette University and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from St. John’s University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Maryland Association of CPAs, Maryland Bar Association, and National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.

Robin B. Ewers, CPA

Robin joined the Firm in 1997. She currently serves as Director of Operations Management and is responsible for ensuring satisfaction by providing tax agency resolution, operational and management guidance, tax planning, and tax compliance. Her extensive experience as a registered representative in brokerage customer service lends tremendous value to the service she provides.

Robin received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Accounting, Magna Cum Laude from Stevenson University. Her CPA certification is with the State of Maryland. She is currently a Doctoral student of Organizational Psychology at Walden University.

She is a member of the Maryland Association of CPAs, Maryland Society of Accountants, Hunt Valley Business Forum, Alpha Chi Honor Society, and Phi Theta Kappa Society.

Professional Team

Danielle C. Malone
Danielle joined the Firm as a staff accountant and CPA candidate in July 2008 after interning with the Firm since 2005. She brings experience from the banking industry where she worked as a financial reporting officer. Danielle assists with preparing compilations, individual and corporate tax returns, and other accounting projects.

Danielle earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and a Masters Degree in Forensic Studies with a concentration in Accounting from Stevenson University.

Ann L. Unger
Ann joined the Firm in 2006 as the Firm's Office Manager with extensive experience in property management and office administration. Ann provides administration for all aspects of office operations. She also provides executive assistance to the Senior Management Team for legal, tax, and other special projects, as well as coordinates administrative support among departments. Ann is a member of the Senior Management Team and provides estate administration services.

Ann attended Montgomery Community College in Rockville, Maryland where she majored in Business Administration. She has completed level three management training and is also a Notary Public.

JoAnn M. Sweeney
JoAnn joined the Firm in 2014 as an administrative assistant. Her experience and expertise in office administration and organization, and her accounting skills utilizing QuickBooks functionality compliments the Firm's full service approach to client satisfaction. She is often the first person you will encounter when contacting our office.

JoAnn graduated from Northern Senior High School, and attended the Community College of Baltimore County where she majored in Human Resource Management.

Jennifer O'hara
Jenn joined the Firm at the end of 2015 to complement our tax preparation team. However, her vast experience as a full charge bookkeeper across various business platforms also complements the team's business service offerings in QuickBooks, payroll, and financial reporting and analysis.

Jenn graduated from Dulaney High School, and attended Baltimore Community College where she studied Accounting, Education, Human Development, and Psychology.
